Patti passed away peacefully Thursday, June 7, 2007, surrounded by her loving family and close friends, after her year-long battle with cancer.
Patti graduated Groves High School in 1970. She was a former Miss Garden City and 1st runner-up in the Miss Savannah Pageant. She also participated in the Miss Georgia Pageant. Patti attended Georgia State University in Atlanta and completed her education at Armstrong Atlantic University, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in 1978.
She was employed at Bank of America for 29 years also known as C & S Bank, Citizen’s and Southern Bank, and NationsBank. She earned the title of Vice-President and specialized in government guaranteed loans. She was affiliated with many local, professional and charitable organizations including: Exchange Club of West Chatham, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, Coastal Area Development Authority, Small Business Assistance Corporation, American Banking Women’s Association, United Way of the Coastal Empire, Great Ideas Grant Program, Community Resource Center, Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Small Business Technical Institute and Savannah Community Housing Services Agency. After retiring from Bank of America, Patti went to work for Sea Island Bank in 2005 as Vice-President of Commercial Banking.
Patti will be remembered for her kindness and love of life. She was an accomplished boater and hunter, but fishing was her passion. She loved music and dancing at the Shag Club on Wednesday nights. Her friends and family mourn her loss. She is survived by her Mother, Jolene H, Daughtry, her Father, Thomas L. Thompson Dee, a daughter, Emily P. Thompson, a brother, Randy Thompson Chris, step-sister, Melanie Perdue Steve and step-brother, Stanley Fulghum; nieces Tonya Dowell John, Courtney Perdue Briana Olsen; nephews Zachary Perdue, Blake Olsen, Taylor Delettre, Ryan Delettre, Stephen Thompson and Gray Thompson and close personal friend, Ken Miller, all of Savannah. Patti was a member of the Unity Church of Savannah. The visitation will be held, Sunday, June 10, 2007, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Fox and Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Hodgson Chapel.
